How to Move Multiple Apps at Once on iOS

Apple doesn’t really believe in detailed instruction manuals, so some handy tricks slip through the cracks. One such trick we’ve recently discovered is that you can move multiple app icons at once on iOS. Here’s how.

On the Home Screen, tap and hold an app icon until it starts to jiggle. Be careful not to press too firmly or you’ll activate 3D Touch.

Next, tap and drag one icon to start moving it around the Home Screen.

To add another app, use another finger to tap its icon while you’re still holding down the first icon. Yes, you have to use two fingers at once! And you can keep adding icons to the stack the same way.

You can then drag the stack of apps to wherever you want on your Home Screen.

And when you drop the stack, the icons fan out in the order they appear in the stack.

How to Access Your Computer from Your iPhone using Team Viewer

There are several methods for accessing your computer with an iPhone. Most options can be costly, charging a one-time fee or monthly/annual subscriptions. The two methods that function best also happen to be completely free for personal use. Both methods require you to install a host app on your iPhone and a companion app on the computer you want to control. Once configured, you’ll be able to control any computer remotely as if you are sitting in front of it.

Install TeamViewer on your iPhone. TeamViewer is free for personal use but offers a paid version for businesses. This app is often used by tech companies for hands-on support to make changes to your computer while you watch. It is compatible both on Windows and Mac.
Open the App Store app and search for TeamViewer using the Search icon at the bottom of the screen. Tap on TeamViewer from the results to open its page, and tap “Get” on the right side of your screen to download and install TeamViewer.

2 Register on TeamViewer. Open th…

An iPhone X clone called the S9 spotted at MWC

What the what? Leagoo's new phone does its best to rip off both Apple and Samsung at the same time.

It's probably not a surprise anymore when a Chinese company blatantly clones other phones to catch eyeballs, but you have to give it to Leagoo for having the gall to do it at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where Samsung's currently showing off its new Galaxy S9.

The phone in question, the Leagoo S9, basically is a $150 (around £110 and AU$190 converted) Android-powered device boasting a notch similar to the one found on Apple's iPhone X while sharing the same name as Samsung's latest. The notch apparently lets you unlock the phone with your face, but it doesn't appear to have the infrared dot projectors found on the iPhone X.

Other features include a 5.85-inch display, 4GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage as well as dual 13-megapixel rear cameras. That's actually pretty decent for its price, and mind you, you do get a iPhone X clone that you can proudly s…

Google's dialer app updated for voicemail transcriptions on T-Mobile

Those of you who use any Google Pixel (2) or Google Nexus smartphone on T-Mobile will be happy to learn that Google's Phone (Dialer) app has been updated to support voicemail transcriptions for T-Mobile subscribers.

There have been reports of some Pixel users seeing transcriptions on their voicemails within the stock Dialer app with the note that they were "Transcribed by Google" as Android Police reported late last month. It had been quietly rolling out over the past few weeks.

As per Google' Phone app's Play Store listing, the feature is now officially available with the latest version (17.0.186697879). Other changes with the update include support for Cyrillic alphabets in smart search dialing, and the usual "bug fixes and performance improvements". This update brings the total number of supported carriers to three: Project Fi (US) and Orange France support Google's transcriptions as well.

It's a bit surprising that Verizon was not the first…

Nokia is bringing new devices to dominate the smartphone market in 3-5 years

You may be aware that Nokia announced quite a few new devices yesterday at MWC, including its new flagship - the Nokia 8 Sirocco. If you're in the US, however, you will unfortunately not be able to officially buy that handset, nor the
Nokia 7 plus, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 1, or Nokia 8110 4G.

HMD Global's CEO, Florian Seiche, has confirmed that the new batch of products isn't headed stateside. "It's not a core focus for this year, but certainly it is on our roadmap", he told CNET .

Nokia will definitely have to stop ignoring the US market at some point in the next few years, especially given the lofty ambitions Seiche has revealed. Nokia wants to be among the Top 5 smartphone manufacturers within three to five years.

For now, HMD is focusing on the regions where it's already successful, such as Europe, India, Indonesia, and Russia. The company claims to be in the Top 5 phone makers in 15 markets already.

Seiche: "That momentum that we are now creating…

Nokia 8110’s slider ‘Matrix’ feature phone returns with 4G and a €79 price tag

Nokia’s 8110 — the distinctive ‘candy bar’ feature phone with a slider opening — was once the phone that everyone wanted but no one could afford, made popular through the Matrix film franchise. Now HMD, the company that has the license to make Nokia phones, is hoping for a hit by bringing it back. Today, at MWC in Barcelona, Nokia officially took the wraps off the new 8110 — a new feature phone that will come with 4G connectivity and a selected group of apps such as Google’s Assistant, Maps, and Search; as well as Facebook and Twitter (and yes, Snake). It also comes with a battery life befitting of feature phones: 17 days, with 9 days of talk time. The 8110 comes in “banana yellow” (in keeping with its “banana” curved design) and black.

This is the second feature phone that HMD has announced since picking up the licensing deal with Nokia for feature and smart phones. The first, the 3310, has been a big hit for HMD. The company told TechCrunch that it is currently the leading handset …

All Nokia Android Phones from Now on Will Be Android One

Nokia's return to the main stage at Mobile
World Congress isn't just about cashing in on nostalgia. HMD Global (which owns Nokia) announced that every Android phone it makes from now on will adhere to Google's updated Android Onestandard.

"Our entire range, with the exception of the Android Go Edition devices, will be Android One," said Juho Sarvikas, chief product officer for HMD Global. "We want to be even faster with the latest innovations and we want to join forces on going to market...That's the reason why Nokia phones will be joining Android One."

What Android One means in 2018 is not what it did in 2014. Back then it meant low-cost phones for emerging markets; now it means high performance, solid battery life, durable design, guaranteed updates, and a bloatware-free stock Android experience.

It's as much of a branding exercise for Google as anything else. Fabian Teichmueller, head of Android Partnerships at Google in the UK, describes i…

weMessage lets you send and receive iMessages on Android

The sticking point for many people switching from iPhone to Android is that you can no longer send iMessages. Sure, you can use WhatsApp or any other messaging app, but you’ll still be excluded from those group or family conversations where the participants continue to use iMessage exclusively.
There are other Apple-only apps, such as FaceTime which certainly aren’t compatible with Android. There are alternatives to those, too, but if you’re determined to send real iMessages on an Android phone, there is now a way.

How can I get iMessages on Android?

There’s now an app in the Google Play store called
weMessage which can send SMS, MMS and iMessges. It does the latter by using a Mac computer – an iMac or MacBook – and the weMessage server program to forward incoming iMessages to the app on your Android device.
When you send a message, it replicates it to the real iMessage service using the same server.
This means you need a compatible Mac, one running Yosemite (macOS 10.10) or later, yo…

Android or iOS: Who’s Winning the Mobile Speed Race?

Android and iOS fans have occasionally been known to argue over the relative merits of each device. Hard to believe, I know, but it happens. One perennial question is which family of devices performs best overall, particularly where cell phone signal strength is concerned. This is extremely tricky to answer, since performance often depends on the carrier in question, the type of modem inside the phone, and your distance from a cell tower. It’s possible to see the cell phone tower and yet be unable to get signal if the directional antenna happens to be pointing away from you.

Ookla has taken a stab at cutting through some of the confusion by measuring iOS and Android performance head to head across the world. What’s particularly interesting, in this case, is that average performance between the two device platforms can vary markedly.
In order to qualify, data for each country had to be available from at least 670 iOS and Android devices in January 2018. In some cases, like the US and …

Google Rolls Out Google Pay Branding to Replace Android Pay

Google’s mobile payment platform has gone through almost as many revamps as its messaging apps, but maybe today will be the last one for a long time. Google is completing its transition to the “Google Pay” platform, which will absorb both Android Pay and Google Wallet. There’s even a shiny new app to go along with the new branding.
The roots of Google Pay reach all the way back to 2011 and the Nexus S 4G on Sprint. Back in those days, you needed carrier support to do NFC payments, but it’s not like there were a lot of stores accepting them. Google’s next attempt was Android Pay, which launched in 2015 . With Android Pay, your bank had to support the platform, but carriers were not involved. It took time, but most banks have come around now.
The issue with Android Pay was not the implementation, but the name. Google intended to offer Android Pay as an online checkout option, but calling it Android Pay doesn’t make much sense in that context. The Google Pay branding started appearing o…

WhatsApp Introduced Payment Feature (Send and Receive Money)

This is kind of getting interesting as WhatsApp is not relenting in upgrading her services. Few days ago, WhatsApp introduced Payment feature in India and it has started rolling out to users. Very soon, it will be available to Nigeria and other African countries.

The payment feature is powered by UPI which enables users to send and receive money easily. With the new service, users can now link their bank account to their WhatsApp account via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and begin making payments straight to another user’s bank account through a WhatsApp chat.

Users can locate the payment option in Whatsapp by tapping on the attachment Button placed next to the camera icon. After that, users will see the payment option along with other options such as gallery, video and others. Once clicked then a list of banks will appear on the screen and you then have to select the bank to which bank account is being linked. After selecting the account, you will just have to verify it to send t…

Your Android Is Secretly Always Recording: Here’s How to Stop Google

Is your Android phone always listening to you? Does Google keep a log of everything you say? And if so, what can you do about it?

In an age where every device has a microphone and they’re made by companies who love to track what you’re doing, these are valid questions. Let’s take a look at the facts behind Google recordings and how you can stop them.

How Is Google Listening?
Before we continue, we should explain what exactly Google records from your Android device.

If you have a certain setting enabled on your phone, saying OK Google will cause it to listen for a command. Before you say this wake phrase, your phone is listening for the OK Google hotword, but it is not recording everything you say and uploading it to Google. Just like with concerns over the Amazon Echo, constantly recording everything a device hears would result in enormous amounts of useless data.

Even if you don’t have the OK Google hotword enabled, you can still use voice commands (that Google records too). Tapping …
